Dear Classmates,
Hope all is going well for you, as fall is moving forward. The News:
JAMES C. CROSS, JR I returned from church on today and on my answering machine was a very nice but strange message. A man left word that Jim Cross died in Abilene, Texas in 2001at the age of 59. I have in my records that Jim was released from prison September 30, 1992, after serving 26 years of his 80-year sentence. The mystery man said Mrs. Nokes and called my home number but I have no idea who called and my ID said pay phone. When I call the number a fax number sound comes on. I would like to talk more to the mystery man and I hope he calls me back. Perhaps IF and when he calls I will give you more information.

CLARA MASSENGALE LEWIS: clara.ronlewis@sbcglobal.net October 11 email: “I have been working for several years on a project in Northwest Houston to create museum space in a former county library facility. The museum, which is a partnership between the community, Harris County and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, will open March 8, 2008. I think growing up in Fort Worth surrounded by all those wonderful museums and performing arts organizations has driven me to work on this project. We grew up with so much wonderful stuff surrounding us. I never realized how important it all was until we moved here 30 years ago and the closest art and culture was 30 miles away. It makes me very grateful to have grown up in Fort Worth. This week the museum’s first publication….’Hush….Don’t Say A Word’, a book of lullabies and art will be introduced by Barnes and Noble. My daughter, Stephanie Northcutt, is the recording artist for the publication. The website is www.pearlmfa.org. By clicking on Lullaby Book further information is available.” Another classmate who has expressed the Fort Worth connection that influenced our lives and also a proud parent.
JOANNE NELSON PETTIT: joanne6400@aol.com BOB PETTIT PHS’58 October 19 email: “Bob had a scan last week and after conferring with his oncologist and radiologist, they agreed that the cancerous tumor is gone. He still is going to finish his chemotherapy and a few more radiology treatments. Thanks to all for the amazing emails. We are excited and so happy! Love, Joanne”
****What great news and keep those prayers and emails going to Joanne and Bob.****
BILLIE ROBERTS DORRIS: beedorris@yahoo.com SONNY DORRIS PHS ’58 CaringBridge October 18: “We moved back home today, arrived about noon. We are both very tired but glad to be home. Sonny has to be back in Dallas 8:45 in the morning. He will be there most of the day for two weeks or more including Saturdays and Sundays. The spinal tap was ok this time. The first spinal tap showed some leukemia cells that were believed to be the reason for some visual problems. They put chemo directly into his spine (in addition to the IV chemo) this time as before and will continue to do so every two weeks until they know he is in the clear. The visual problems corrected completely. The bone marrow biopsy results are not back yet. Sonny has not lost his hair this time and has really done very well. He is a real trooper. We will be able to stay home depending on how things go. We have many things to be thankful for. Billie” Visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/hbdorris and sign the guest book. Billie and Sonny need support and prayers and they appreciate hearing from you.
PAUL “BUBBA” WOODS: woods_bubba@hotmail.com October 16 email: “I’d like to tell our classmates that I have been diagnosed as having lymphoma, stage 4, in treatment.…chemo, 5 more to go. At this point everything seems to be going well.” I sent a card from the class to Paul “Bubba” Woods, 124 William Wallace Dr., Burleson, TX 76028. You may send emails to the above email address.
